So, blah , blah until the very last paragraph , which reads....
The source added 'Courtney's also taking a bizarre nutritional supplement , which is made from unicorn root and red clover.'
I have been giggling about this to myself all night....and now I know unicorns DO exist , or where is Courtney Cox's potion coming from!!!????

My youngest son's girlfriend makes me so MAD, I always turn into the Mum from Everybody loves Raymond around her (or even just talking about her), but I softened a little bit when I say above pic on her blog....
by the power of FIVE!!!!????
maybe she's trying to banish me!
Ah well, enough of that! So , what HAVE i been doing?
Drinking loads of carrot juice with lemon to have younger skin! Suddenly (well, I've been in denial for a while) my face seems just to have 'fallen' , I have the pouches and the double chin my sister and my Mum both have , the wrinkles are digging in and worst of all ,
THE DARK EYE CIRCLES, ACCOMPANIED BY THE HOLLOWS UNDER THE EYES....
These have got so bad I feel really self conscious about them; I blame them on my husband keeping me awake at night with his restless legs / fidgety syndrome, but since he's not here three nights of the week he says it's not his fault.
I spent a fortune on face cream today; I promised myself I never would but the time has come.
The husband says I'm becoming obsessed with myself - my HAIR especially (I should shut up about it) my chin , my eye hollows , my clothes.
Perhaps I am shallow , but I'm a Leo, so there.
Next tangent -
One of my clients gave me an OLIVE the other day; wow , I must have only ever eaten the worst kind before , because this one was the greatest thing...I am not usually a savoury fan either , but I am going to have to find out where that olive came from and buy load and loads , I just loved it. Makes me wonder what other food stuffs I'm missing out on.... the next client expressed surprise when I told her above story ; she said she had never tasted an olive but knew they were very good for the skin....ah well!
My dog ran away last week , through the heather , after a capercaillie (cross between a turkey and a bad tempered grouse) I really thought he was gone for good when we had spent an HOUR in the pouring rain shouting for him , then he just appeared as if nothing had happened ....big row over WHY he runs away. My theory is he is just like that - when I got him i asked his owner what was he like off the lead and his owner said 'fine!' but her little boy whispered in my ear 'He runs away!' (He got sent to bed for that) After a year and a bit I'm still not confident in letting him off the lead away from home , although my husband is taking more and more chances (like last week) ...my son thinks I am just a bad owner and the dog should be TRAINED to come back immediately when called , but I think, like I said , he is just a *runner* (I had a rescued Irish setter who was exactly the same) Anyways , he's back now so all's well. At the moment!
Reading , 'The green Isle of the Great Deep' by Neil Gunn , which is very , very Scottish.
Love to all!

My farmer neighbour dumped a load of what looked like topsoil in the field adjoining us (next to his cow dung pile) so I decided I would have a bucket or so to myself , because my soil is not great at all in certain bits of the garden... every time I fill a bucket I uncover a plant of some kind ...tonight , three buckets yielded -
two strawberry plants
a clump of mint , and one of chives
! score!
Not that I don't have these already , but it's always good to rescue plants , I think, when somebody else doesn't want them. It's a big pile , this topsoil , so goodness knows what else it under there.
Have been watching 'Alaska - the last frontier' with an obsessive 'don't talk to me between ten and eleven!' -glued to the tv kinda attitude...most of these programmes I think , 'Oh , well, I could do better than that!' but this one , wow , just the thought of BEARS being in the vicinity scares the hell out of me ...I know y'all over there have that worry , but over here our biggest mammal wondering around is deer - and we WANT to meet them! And it looks so COLD; that constant search for firewood must be so draining. Next week I think they all start to panic with the short days setting in...makes for interesting watching , but it does seem hard this one, so I do feel sorry for them.
My littlest hen Speckles hatched out four chicks, but she is far from the world's greatest chicken Mum! Last week , when they were just two days old , the husband heard all the hens fussing , I ran down and one of the new chicks was SWIMMING around in the water dish with all the hens around panicking and squacking , while Speckles sunbathed in the corner with the remaining three! Luckily the baby recovered after being dried and warmed up. Speckles' neglect seems to have made them into streetwise chicks though , and already they are much tougher and adventurous than any other chicks we've had here.
Ok , I must sleep - four in the morning the cockerels start up and the swallows come and sit next to my window ledge and chatter to each other , then the pheasants start crowing and all the wee birds join in , so I've only got a wee window of opportunity to get a decent sleep.
And yes, it IS me , Connie!

I've been craving for a necklace with a crescent moon as the feature for a while now, so , combined a trip to the city with a search for (a) the necklace (b) a feature plant and a feature ornament for the quiet meditation/wildlife bit in the garden I'm dreaming of....sadly , the trip was not the return- with- cache of goodies I'd hoped it would be....
Plants - My dream plant for this garden was originally a purple acer (japanese maple) but , when I saw them , I thought , is this the right plant for a wild garden in the absolute centre of the Scottish countryside? OK, I love the purple colour , and the way they span out , but ....my reservations got the better of me. Looked at many , many other bushes and shrubs but couldn't make my mind up/fall in love with anything ..... so, my plant count for today was -
Some wildflower seeds , some cottage garden seeds, also a rosemary bush , a lavender plant , parsley and basil , all for my wee herb garden. Funny how things turn out. And garden ornaments - once again , our stores are inundated with Asian stuff - Buddhas , Buddhas , Buddhas .... was hoping I could get like , a fake PICTISH stone with all the markings on , but sadly , none to be found . Perhaps I have to make one myself?!
I did get some very cool wild bird feeders and feed , which should attract some very nice wee woodland birds , not that I don't see and hear plenty already ...but that's a whole different post!
The necklace ....probably the highlight(s) of the trip was discovering two very awesome shops in the centre of the city ...first Caledonian jewellery , which is just off Academy street in Inverness , if anybody local is reading (LOL!) (sis! are you there?!) This shop has a total TRAWL of Victorian inspired jewellery , and loads of turqoise stuff which I really love , but I had set my heart on the crescent moon , so I stuck with my ideal ....
My son wanted some incense , so we walked along the road to PYRAMID, which strangely we had never seen before ....entranced by very beautiful Goddess figures in the window, we went in and browsed. This shop had EVERYTHING witchy , sadly except my dream necklace! The witch behind the counter (and I mean that in a nice way!) said she had had one once (!) with a fairy sitting on top of the moon , but none at the moment. Gutted! Means I have to go online now and get one , and pay the **** postage which will likely be huge . But I WANT my necklace with a kiddie's want , y'know how.
Back of the shop had loads and loads of witchy style clothes ..... velvet bodices with tie up backs (want.now.) long floaty tops and skirts , in colours of your everyday stereotype witches , goths , and wiccans ....black, purple , red. I want very much to boot the witch out the shopdoor , lock it and claim shop and all contents as my own, but she would hex me , I know she would. (!)So till I hatch a plan to oust her, will be satisfied with buying some of her lovely , lovely velvety things till I have no room in my room for more . Sadly today I did not purchase - too pissed off about the necklace and not enough money for clothes (not on the list!) right now , but in a couple of weeks , I will revisit and spend like a madwoman! OK , to end this , if you are in Inverness, and you want to visit Pyramid , turn right when you go out the door at Caledonian jewellery (as if you're going up to Primark) and it's right at the end of the road facing you. Buy a crystal ball!
Something else I was going to mention , but can't think what.....
Oh yeah. I think one of my barn cats , Fluffy , has kittens , but once she is in the (huge) barn she disappears and I can't see where. I am DESPERATE to see if my hunch is right , hatching up all kinds of plans to catch her out and see those babies , but I think she is too clever for me , and will bring them to me in her own time. Also waiting on two broody hens, who have been sitting on eggs for AGES....any day now , hopefully!
Right...must find necklace on ebay.....good night, all!

Very beautiful weather with us - 20 degrees , a small trace of a breeze , nice sunshine. Possibly this is the 'month' of Summer we seem to get in Scotland nowadays. I've vowed to enjoy every single minute of it , however small, and I was out till the dark came tonight , watching the swallows swoop around in the barn next door. But it's been a long day and now I'm shattered!
Ok , I am really stuck for stuff to write about , so will tell you I'm reading a book about a woman who restarts her life in a small seaside community , and she meets a guy who is renewing an ancient victorian walled garden ...lots of seascapes and flowery images! The husband's evil bad back has put in an appearance, so I'm thinking he may return from work shortly instead of trying to tough it out....better get my reading done before he gets home...
Hope you are all well and enjoyed your Beltane celebrations.

It's awful to say , but my lonely goat CoCo has become a much nicer girl since her brother's demise. Tonight I was brushing her and she seemed to be enjoying it (which she never did before) , so I leant forward and said to her, 'You're a much nicer goat now, CoCo - you always hated the brush before' and she leant her head forward to kiss me , like a dog would! Shock! I don't know what was more surprising - the fact that she seemed to *understand* what I said , or that she wanted to kiss me. Both are weird!
It has been a strange week here , with the sudden death of one of my husband's friends - a guy he worked in a bakery with for almost twenty years. They hadn't seen each other for the last seven years , and it was one of those things - on the phone they would both say 'Oh , we'll come and visit ,' but it never happened , which is making my husband SO sad and guilty . And he was asked to take a cord at the graveyard as well , which made him feel worse . It's the age old thing of someone your own age dying , which makes you think about your own mortality as well , I think. At the wake we ended up sitting next to a minister as well , with much discussions going on about God. If you know me , you will know I found this quite amusing!
Tomorrow My Mum and sister are arriving on one of their quarterly visits , so I must go and finish the hoovering . (Is that vacuuming over there?!) Then I'm making a coffee and walnut sponge from my sister's late mum in law's treasured recipe book. I hear it's an aquired taste , so I'll let you know!
Just checking in with y'all!

Ok , in between times (judge's smoke breaks , tea breaks , lunch , more deliberations etc) I nipped out to the goodwill shops to browse the books - came across a VERY cool book called 'Findings' by a Scottish female poet , describing (at first) her obssession with the sightings of a pair of peregrine falcons she could see nesting from her kitchen window (!) Well , I fell in love with this story and was SO jealous - thinking I would be very unlikely to ever see such a thing...
Fast forward to Monday , and another punishment (or challenge) - get a photo of the holiday/hotel resort which sits in the middle of our ski resort village - NOT a straight forward normal photo, but up through the centre of the six storey skyscraper type hotel , out at the top and get a bird's eye view.
Sadly , the keys were not available for such an unremarkable request , but a very kind Polish porter leant crazily out of a top window and took some pics for me , but my evil boss said they were crap and I would have to look at 'other different views' of the complex...
Which led me to consider going out into the local nature reserve , a place I had never been , don't ask me why. There's a huge crag shadowing the village , with a walk built round the outside , and high enough up I could get a 'less crap ' bird's eye view of the buildings.Well , about quarter of a mile into the journey , a sign post declared to me that I should 'look up' and between April and July , I might be able to see the mating peregrine falcons and their brood.
Shock!
Of course , I wasn't privileged enough to see them up close (I did see one of them up high gliding around ) but all in all , they are only eight miles away from me , easy to get to , and all this time I did not know , and it seems , their being there is not all that well known . Next time!
The walk through the reserve itself was fantastic , three different lochans to sit at (very contemplative) a high climb through silver birch trees to a viewpoint - I never made it that far , but it's there!
It's funny how different creatures appear in clusters in our lives sometimes......
Pic of one of the lochans , which has a strange Victorian type water measuring feature....

My sister and I had a very cool discussion that night about all the 'secret places' just waiting near us , to be discovered.
Share with me , when you find one!

Belated blessings to y'all (I'm guessing that's EVERYBODY who comes here) who celebrate Ostara....sitting here on Sunday , a blizzard outside, the GREAT ESCAPE on TV, eating roast chicken with all the trimmings , my fourth son says , 'Are we in a time warp or something - this seems a lot like X mas to me!'
Honestly , I can never remember snow like this at this time of year.
Which still leaves the garden in fantasy mode - even the green house isn't warm enough yet to start off any seedlings. My fruit trees have buds though , especially the pears - I have to learn how to make Baby cham!
My little ebay vintage clothes venture I started as a job security measure is going better than I ever dreamt it would. I have a lot of stuff left from the first month or so when I was still unsure what would sell /what wouldn't , so I'm psyching myself up to get a stall at the village car boot sale this weekend (do you say garage sale?) Depends a lot on the weather - if it's still gales and snow I can wait a bit longer.
One of my photography clients has asked me to do some voluntary baking for her charity coffee morning next month....the list is -
one victoria sponge
12 cheese scones
one coffee cake
12 blueberry muffins
a tray of chocolate toffee (millionaire's) shortbread
Simple enough!
I HAD to ask how she knew I could/did bake - she says 'You just look like you do!'
COULD be a compliment, or maybe not!
Reveal magazine has a BIG feature this week on the planetary changes , re the astrological new year - pluto moves into capricorn for the first time in 248 years , Saturn is in Virgo for the first time in 30 years - reveal says the world is going to see big changes , as are we all personally.
This is Leo (Hi, J!)
Sometimes you're so busy looking on the bright side and making do , you forget you're a special person. And you should be living accordingly. If anyone looked at your bank account , they'd see you certainly like to splash the cash. Pluto and Saturn are going to gang up on you if you don't balance the books soon, so you need to earn more money. You're creative talents are a gold mine , so if you work hard doing something you love , the stars will see you rewarded. Go for it.
Do - look into long term investments . You can spot a good deal at 20 paces now.
Don't - burn the candle at both ends or give up the gym. Put your health first.
Mmmm.....well , I seem to be always working , at home and out of it, so I will look forward to my reward!
OK , I am re-reading 'Chocolat' my almost all- time favourite book , so will wish you all well till next time.

leeks I bought at the agri show in August have hardly grown at all through the Winter ...I think I didn't feed them enough.
No sign of any of my favourite kale plants ....loyal readers may remember last late Summer when my livestock (led by the late Pablo) trashed the fence and ate the whole harvest . So I'll have to start from scratch with that.
No sign of the rhubarb - too early yet, I think
The one and only remaining guinea pig went ecstatic today when I came in with fresh new shoots of grass ...I think he's forgotten what it tasted like. As have we all forgotten the taste of veg straight from the garden . I am way too fed up with the supermarket stuff.
Reading a book (Hungry Ghosts - Debbie Taylor) about a woman who buys a rustic abode in Crete - she finds out the goats have been staying IN the house previously , as have the hens and the cats, living with the old lady previous owner. It's quite funny to me how freaky that's portrayed ....
like that's SO outlandish and eccentric.
